Bill O'Reilly's Ignorance

I have to agree that Bill O'Reilly's recent comments about his dinner at Sylvia's restaurant in Harlem were not racist. But it did show his ignorance. And that, to me, should be the big story. For a man that comes across as all knowing, to admit that he couldn't get over the fact that there wasn't any difference between a black restaurant in Harlem and any other restaurant in New York City is mind boggling. And I'm also sure he couldn't get over the fact that driving through Harlem was no different that driving through any other poor neighborhood in New York City.
I'm sure that there are a lot of other things Bill O'Reilly would be amazed at in this country if he would just take the time to go out and mingle with the masses. Instead, he prefers to remain holed up in his fortress, defending himself against perceived left wing conspiracies and attacks from CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and anyone else that he disagrees with. And his standard argument that just because his ratings are higher than CNN's, that makes him right is getting old. I would suspect that most of the people in his audience are the same people that elected George Bush president twice.
But even though his words were condescending to blacks, I don't believe O'Reilly is a racist, at least outwardly. He is condescending to everyone. But his words do indicate that he is ignorant, at least about blacks. And that would be news to everyone.
